With this post I will talk about the classic in terms of the most well known and easily identifiable types of masks. There are so many different types and new ones being created every day but there are masks that live on forever and truly make a party a real masquerade.

I will identify 4 masks here that you would easily pick out yourselves as being a classic masquerade. I have not given these their real names but ones that would allow you to identify from the description. These are only four of many so you could probably figure some other ones in addition to these:

1. Just The Eyes
2. Court Jester with Bells
3. Triangle Kaleidoscope
4. Half Face

1. Just The Eyes - These can be worn to so many different events and are so varied in terms of color and pattern. You can get plain colors or very ornate ones with gold trimming. Some of these masquerade masks come with a strap to be worn around the head and other have a small stick like so you can hold it in front of your face - very good if you have big hair that night. These also come with or without feathers.

2. Court Jester with Bells - these are not really symbolic of a court jester, usually something a little bit more sinister. I have called it that because of the type of ‘hat’ that ‘grows’ from the face. Each long section of the hat part usually has 2 colors down the length of it and then a bell at the top of each point. This is great when you wear it and you shake your head it makes a wonderful sound that adds to the look.

3. Triangle Kaleidescope - These masquerade masks are more classic because of the pattern rather than the shape of the mask. Triangle shapes are painted on with every ‘even’ triangle a different color to the ‘odd’ triangles. These can be eyes only or half faced in shape.

4. Half Face - This is more than just the eyes. It covers your forehead, eyes, cheeks and nose and part of the top of your mouth. These are much more masculine masks and many men wear these to a masquerade.

You can see from the simple descriptions of these that almost all of them have variations of color and patterns and ways of wearing. They also come with or without certain features. These are common things with classic masks. Enjoy looking for a great one for you - it is so much fun.
